America's Boating Course is a complete program covering the basics of recreational boating. Starting in 2020 all New York State boaters will be required have taken a New York State Approved boating safety class on a phased in schedule ending in 2025. You can get your NY certificate now by taking the United States Power Squadron's America's Boating Course (ABC3) if you are interested in an exciting, in-depth boating safety course, check out America's Boating Course. Many boat insurance companies will offer discounts on boating insurance to boaters who successfully complete America's Boating Course. And, this beginner boating class will give you the knowledge needed to obtain a boat license or safety certification in many states. This boat safety course is fun and very thorough. The course content has been developed conjunction with state boating safety agencies responsible for boater education, is approved by the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators (NASBLA), and is recognized by both the U.S. Coast Guard and the State of New York.
The ABC course material includes four main chapters, which cover:
Boat Education: General information about boats and personal watercraft, and their maintenance
Boating Safety: How to make your boating safer and more comfortable
Boating Law and Regulation: Laws and regulations that you must follow.
America's Boating Course includes:

- A boating instruction CD, a digital charting CD, and
- 6 months free membership in the United States Power Squadrons..
America’s Boating Course is recognized by New York State, the U.S. Coast Guard and has been approved by the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators.
Both the boater education course manual and the CD provide review questions so that you can show that you truly understand the material. In addition to the lessons, this safe boating course includes resources which will come in handy long after you have completed the course: printable forms (such as checklists, accident reports, float plans, etc.) and links to documents such as the U.S. Coast Guard's Navigation Rules, which can help you with any specific boating rule.
