Welcome to the North River Sail & Power Squadron!
We are a non-profit boating safety, educational, and social organization active in the New York City area. We are called the commuter's Squadron since most of our members are commuting to NYC for work. Our members participate in educational, civic service, and social activities on-the-water and ashore.
We promote boating safety.
Whether you have a fishing boat, sailboat, cruiser, or even a run-about, you will benefit from the boating courses that we offer! We provide public classes in safe boating. We offer members advanced courses in Seamanship, Navigation, Weather, Piloting, Engine Maintenance and many others.
Join the fun!

United States Power Squadrons®
The National Organization
The United States Power Squadrons® is a non profit organization, composed completely of volunteers. It has no affiliation with any governmental organization. The United States Power Squadrons is the world’s largest private, non-profit, boating organization.
Established in 1914, USPS has some 45,000 members organized into 450 squadrons across the country and in US territories. Each squadron's activities involve the three primary objectives of USPS: community service, continuing education, and enjoying the friendship and camaraderie of our fellow members. You can find out more about USPS through the links on the right to its website and by reading its newsletter The Ensign.
USPS members consist of boating families who contribute to their communities by promoting safe boating on the water and in the classroom. Local squadrons offer boating safety courses on a regular basis to boaters in our communities.
