VHF Radio & Communication at Sea

Learn your Marine Communications Safety Alphabet. Find out what method is best for you. You will see & hear, compare & contrast different sources for maritime communications from practitioners. The presentation will cover the following:

  • VHF Radio (Very High Frequency)
  • DSC (Digital Selective Calling)
  • AIS (Automatic Identification System)
  • SPOT & PLB’s (Personal Locator Beacons)
  • APRS (Automatic Packet Reporting System)
  • EPIRB (Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacon)
  • IRLP (Internet Radio Linking Project)
  • GMDSS (Global Marine Distress Safety System)

If you need Course Credit for your “On The Water Training Passport”, please indicate on your response and the cost for the material is $ 22 (there is a separate paypal button as well)
