Understanding Hell Gate

REGISTRATION IS CLOSED FOR THIS EVENT.  We apologize but because of the overwhelming response to this event we had to close further registration.
Presented by Donald Chesley Consulting Engineer to Davidson Labs at Stevens Institute. This presentation will explore the causes of tides and currents, their effects on maritime decision making, and how understanding the various factors enhances safety, efficiency, and recreation. Tools such as Eldridge and Websites will be discussed and compared for Hell Gate and Eastchester Bay, including graphic images of:

  • surface currents
  • water level
  • surface and bottom salinity
  • AIS real-time traffic through Hell Gate
  • NOAA winds through Hell Gate
